Habitat

What the Critics are Saying

"Mother/daughter dynamics vie with have/have-not dynamics in ''Habitat,'' an overstuffed but bracingly acted drama by the Canadian playwright Judith Thompson being given its United States premiere by the Epic Theater Center. In a production full of strong performances, Teri Lamm and Rebecca Schull, working opposite ends of the generational spectrum, particularly capture attention. Ms. Lamm is Raine, a 16-year-old who, in a sublime opening scene, indifferently watches her mother slip toward death from cancer. Raine later ends up in a group home for troubled teenagers, which is in a prosperous neighborhood that doesn't want it. Ms. Schull assured performance will surprise those who know her mainly as the scatterbrained Fay on the sitcom ''Wings.'... "Habitat" is paired in repertory with Ibsen's ''Little Eyolf,'' with the same cast performing both shows"
